Curriculum Vitaes

A Curriculum Vitae (CV) is a more detailed description of your experiences and skills in comparison to a standard resumé. CVs are mainly used when applying for positions in academia, research and scientific positions, and even when applying for grants or fellowships. Some of the items to include on your CV are your contact information, education background, experience in teaching and research, publications, presentations, honors, awards (including grants and fellowships), professional affiliations, and other details that are relevant to the position for which you are applying.

You should have different versions of your CV if you are applying for more than one type of position. Take a look at the links below for more information and sample CVs.

Resumes & Cover Letters

If you are seeking opportunities in industry then your CV needs to be tailored to one or two pages. Along with a resumé, a cover letter is expected which highlights your specific skills and achievements relating to the position or company for which you are applying.

Before starting your search, work on tailoring your academic experience into broad defined areas of industry such as problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills, as well as organizational and specialized skills.

Listed below are several sites to help you write both a resumé and cover letter.
